“ON EMPTY” is the debut SHORT film of Charthouse.
This film is a thriller about two brothers who run out of gas on the side of the road, while something they want to remain hidden is in the trunk. Their relationship is tested and true colors are shown when a faceless good samaritan lends them some "southern hospitality".
I'm a big believer that no matter the size of production, it should feel like making movies with friends.
On Empty started as a push and a challenge from one of my producing partners, Andrew Lane. We had a few days off in between shoots and limited resources. We wanted to challenge ourselves. We raced against the sun, had huge delays due to filming right next to a train, and had to quickly find a way to revive one of the main vehicles after its battery died. The pressure was on, but the only way a diamond is made is by pressure. Looking back on it, On Empty was one of the most fun shoots I've ever been a part of. It truly felt like everyone on set had been friends for a long time and it reminded me of making movies on weekends with my friends.
