Our documentary explores the transformation of Dana Point Harbor in the 1960s, when the construction of the harbor destroyed one of Southern California’s most iconic surf breaks, “Killer Dana.” Once a gathering place for surfers and the heart of a thriving coastal culture, the wave was buried beneath concrete jetties and marinas. Through archival footage, personal stories, and expert commentary, the film reveals how the loss of Killer Dana became a symbol of progress clashing with surf culture. It also highlights how similar developments continue to threaten coastal ecosystems and surfing communities across the world today.
